You are on : Home / The Bar of Lyon / The Law Society at an international level
The International Committee of the Lyon Law Society (CIBLY in French) plays an active part in opening up the Law Society at an international level.
Naturally oriented towards our young members, the international committee enables several of them to gain work experience in a firm of lawyers outside France each year.
hanks to twinning agreements, Law Societies such as those in Manchester, Montreal, Barcelona or Philadelphia regularly welcome young lawyers from Lyon, who are thus able to make the most of unique opportunities to find out about other legal and judiciary systems.
Thanks to the steps taken by the successive presidents of the Lyon Law Society, and thanks to the activities of CIBLY, strong institutional links have been set up between our Law Society and our colleagues in other countries. Attentive to changes throughout the world, the Lyon Law Society has now opened up new partnerships with the Maghreb, the Middle East, and probably, in due course, with the Indian subcontinent.
As proof of our colleagues’ ability to accompany businesses in the Rhône-Alpes region in their international actions, CIBLY is a natural partner of the economic institutions in our region, and it regularly provides support for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the WTC, the Chamber of Trade and the International Chamber of Commerce.
The theme of export contracts is the object of regular requests from our partners, and the fields of intervention are as wide-ranging as the competencies required: middleman agreements, patent infringement, tax systems for international trade, how to go about establishing bases in other countries, transfers of expertise, etc.
To better share the fruits of these dialogues with other legal and judiciary cultures, CIBLY organizes an annual symposium with the Regional Law School on a professional theme of joint interest.
It also publishes a Forum in which it takes part in the discussions concerning the profession, by applying the detachment and riches drawn from its international experience.
